Skillshare

Building Skills for Solidarity: Jail, Bail, and Abolition

In December 2020, House the Bay, the Bay Area Anti-Repression Committee, and Oakland Abolition and Solidarity held a 201 level skillshare on how to deal with arrests. Arrests are a common tactic for state repression, and this skillshare covered a variety of topics including: a detailed overview of the process of being arrested/booked/released, how to provide more effective jail support for arrested comrades, advice for better security culture and interacting with cops, how to post bond, and how to support incarcerated folks beyond just your comrades.

House the Bay is a group of housed and unhoused community members who are tired of waiting for our cities to address the very immediate need for housing.

The Bay Area Anti-Repression Committee is a group that provides support for actions that are anti-patriarchal, anti-racist, anti-imperialist & anti-capitalist. They provide education on resisting state repression and run a bail fund.

Oakland Abolition & Solidarity is a group that supports prisoners’ efforts to organize. They run jail release support nights at Santa Rita, help run a hotline for Santa Rita inmates, and generally act as a liaison between inside and outside support for incarcerated folks.
